EARLY DAYS

Hailing from an historical Maratha family, Ravi Gaikwad has an illustrious lineage. His grandparents were actively involved in the independence movement of India. His grandfather, Bhaskarrao Auti, a barrister by profession and a civil servant was a freedom fighter and an MLA in India. His grandmother, Tarabai Auti was also a prominent freedom fighter who played a major role in the fight against the Portuguese rule. His uncle, Vijay Auti, was Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly. Ravi Gaikwad’s father, Kisan Gaikwad, a civil engineer (BE Civil), was a senior bureaucrat in the Government of Maharashtra and his mother, Pushpa Gaikwad (BA Hons, PolSc), is director of a Bank. His wife, Nirmala Gaikwad (MD), is a practicing doctor. They have two children, Ananya and Rishi. Ravi’s parents have brought him up with great ethics and has instilled the best of cultural values in him. A merit-list holder in his 12th standard board examinations (Pune board), he went on to do engineering in Electronics and Telecommunica-tions.

He won two gold medals – one, for standing first in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and the second for being the firstrank holder in all branches of engineering, across all universities of Maharashtra. He then did a PhD in Electronics and Telecommunications, followed by a second PhD degree in Sports.

Ravi Gaikwad’s mastery over English language and literature is another fascinating facet of his multidimensional personality. With a spiritual bent of mind, he used language as his thought bearer. His ability to articulate complex ideas through easy, comprehensible terms is enhanced because of his mastery over the language. This has made him an outstanding public intellectual in the fields that he touched in life. It is hardly surprising, then, that since his school days he has been writing poetry and publishing in various magazines and journals. His facility with the English language helped him immensely in becoming an author and speaker in public forums. He was an NCC Cadet during his school days and wrote articles on comparative defence systems in various journals. A versatile and active student, Ravi Gaikwad was General Secretary of his engineering college.

During his college days, he edited and wrote extensively on science and technology. The magazine he edited, Witness, earned him accolades in the University for being the best edited content journal for students. A keen sports enthusiast, he has represented Maharashtra in Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 categories in cricket.

He was also included in the Ranji Trophy camp. He serves as Chairman of the Handball Federation of India, is a member of the International Handball Federation and is President of the Handball Association of Maharashtra.

Ravi Gaikwad is on the board of the Indian Olympics Association and the All India Football Federation. He is also President of Uttarakhand Football Federation. Ravi Gaikwad started his career as a scientist with the Tatas.

He then cleared the Civil Services examinations and joined government service. He is the Chief of the RTO, Thane and the Konkan region. He also works for the Road Safety Cell in Maharashtra and is founder of the Road Safety World Series that integrates the concept of Road Safety with sports to create awareness about the importance of road safety to save lives on roads across the globe. Having studied the Indian constitution in detail, he is also proficient in comparative constitutional studies. He has written a separate new draft for the Indian constitution. Ravi was exceptionally talented in academics and had earned several awards, accolades and national scholarships during his school and college days.

He studied in Little Flower Convent High School and stood in the merit list of the H.S.C Pune Board. He also stood first in English in Pune Board and also across all Maharashtra boards with respect to H.S.C.

He is a gold medalist in Engineering and has won two gold medals. He completed his Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication and stood first in Engineering in all the branches of the University and the entire state of Maharashtra.

His record is unbeatable as yet! He also successfully presented a revered project in IIT Mumbai. Being an expert in Indian & worldwide Constitutions, he composed a separate draft on the Indian Constitution. He also won two other Gold Medals for exceptional achievement in academics.

Ravi Gaikwad has an illustrious career, spanning across several industries with expertise. His detailed study on International Relations and Foreign Policy is of immense honor. He was appointed as the Editor of the “The Parliament” magazine being published from the Indian Parliament. Moreover, he worked as a Chief Editor of various magazines that won several awards and accolades. He worked as the youngest research scientist with the TATAs in TATA Engineering and Locomotives Pvt. Ltd. (TELCO), before joining the Government of Maharashtra. He played a crucial role in getting several multinationals and research design centers in India. As a mentor and guide to young talents, he also helped several upcoming engineers get placement across many important positions, globally.

He has accomplished himself at the topmost level of the corporate world for excellent proficiency and management skills in almost all large reputed multinationals and Indian companies. He continuously receives offers to join in the leadership teams of the corporate world as a CEO and/or MD and is recognized with special distinction in the corporate world. This garnered him a lot of respect amongst all top industrialists and personalities who are economic leaders of the country.

He also has two Guiness Book Of World Records in his name. One for organizing the largest road safety class with DRTO Borivali, Mumbai on 31st January, 2016. The other one for organizing the largest handball lesson in Solapur, Maharashtra on 20th February 2016.

He is popular for his Wit, Charm and Dry Humour. He enjoys simple Marathi food. His favourite heritage site is Yedeshwari Devi at Yermala and Tuljabhavani at Tuljapur.

Amongst Indian classical dances, he has a special leaning towards Kathak as his daughter is learning this dance form. He loves trekking and the Himalayan trekking trails attract him the most.

His belief in ‘simple living and high thinking’ could be
understood from the fact that he is most happy when he meets with the average Indian farmer.

Ravi Gaikwad is not only active in several fields but also excels in many of them. His interests include Nation Building, Development and Social Welfare. He is chairman of Shant Bharat Surakshit Bharat, a trust that
serves the socially marginalized.

A pioneering philanthropist, Ravi Gaikwad has done much to change conventional ideas of charity. He aims to inspire social change in terms of people’s attitude and behaviour on the roads regarding driving, riding and walking.

Ravi Gaikwad believes that each soul is potentially divine. The goal is to manifest this divinity within. During the second wave of Covid 19 in April 2021, when there was a severe shortage of oxygen in hospitals across India, Ravi Gaikwad was instrumental in ensuring that this scarcity was overcome in the hospitals of Maharashtra.

Maharashtra, with the highest number of infected cases, had faced the highest number of severe infections as well. He played a significant role in requisitioning maximum oxygen tankers and for the timely changing of nitrogen tankers to oxygen tankers. He worked tirelessly to make sure the oxygen tankers got delivered in good time to hospitals, thereby helping to save a number of patients, who needed intensive care and medical oxygen. Ravi Gaikwad was honoured with the title, ‘Mother Teresa Award’ for social justice. He was also given the ‘India Corona Warriors Award’ by Wockhardt Foundation for his selfless service and grit during the pandemic.

He was also selected in the Cooch-Bihar Trophy under 19 tournament. He represented his University & State in several tournaments and led his teams as a captain to win trophies at various levels of the game.

Ravi Gaikwad’s vision at all times has been to strive for all noble causes of the society. The prime cause being making this nation an accident free one. He has been instrumental in organizing several events to raise awareness among the masses! Ravi genuinely feels that people of this city and this state are his responsibility and he has taken it upon himself to make this generation next, an aware lot in terms of safe driving

Ravi envisages a state that is noise pollution free. This vision motivated him to collaborate with several celebrities from the world of cinema. Several videos were shot in association with the celebs to raise awareness. They all urge us to not honk unnecessarily and make this city a place where there is no noise pollution. They iterate that fact that it is essential to not honk around hospitals and schools. They tell us in various ways how to stay away from honking and how it is treated as a personal insult in places outside India

Ravi’s mission is To live for the cause of humanity. As a representative of the people, Ravi’s mission is to ensure that the roads of this city are safest for one and all. He strives hard to reach out to the masses and ensure that they drive home safely to their loved ones.
